1cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
2cups granulated sugar
3large eggs, at room temperature
1teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2teaspoon baking soda
pinch of salt
1 cup milk
1/2cup semisweet chocolate chips
For the frosting
1cup unsalted butter
2 cups powdered sugar
4-5Tablespoon heavy cream
1tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/2cups unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour two 9x13 inch baking pans.
In a medium bowl, cream butter until light and fluffy. Add granulated sugar and beat until light and fluffy
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips
Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool cake in pans on a wire rack for 10 minutes; then remove from pans to cool completely.
