Cleaning the cabinets

I usually start by taking everything out of the cabinets and wiping them down with a damp cloth. I usually put the things that I use most often in the front of the cabinet, so they’re easy to access.

  • To clean the inside of a cabinet, you have to use your fingers. Use a soft cloth and wipe down the sides as well as the bottom of the cabinet. Use a damp cloth to wipe off dust and dirt from around the doors.
  • If you have a light-colored cabinet, don’t forget to wipe the sides down with a cloth that is color-coordinated with your cabinets.  I use color coordinating clothes from Ikea because they’re super cheap and work great.

Wipe down your range hood with oil

Wipe down your range hood with oil

There are two ways to clean your range hood.

Using a stovetop cleaner – This is what I use most of the time. Just spray it on, wipe it with a microfiber cloth, and then let it sit for a few minutes to do its job. You can also use a small amount of vinegar to clean the range hood, but that will leave behind a sticky residue.  Personally, I haven’t found this method to be very effective. Using vinegar – You can also use vinegar on your range hood in place of the stovetop cleaner. Just pour a small amount of vinegar on your stovetop cleaner and wipe it down.  I have also tried using a baking soda paste to clean my range hood, but that left behind a sticky residue as well.
