Chef’s Tips

  • It is important to make sure that the butter is well-chilled before you start the recipe. If it is not chilled, it will soften and the dough will become sticky.
  • If you’re planning on making a lot of gingerbread cookies, consider investing in a stand mixer. It makes life easier and you won’t have to mix everything by hand as much.
  • You can use regular flour if you don’t want to make your own flour mixture. However, if you do decide to use store-bought flour, make sure that it doesn’t contain any additives or preservatives.
  • Make sure that your oven is at the right temperature before you start baking. If the oven is too hot, it will make the cookies dry. If the oven is too low, it will make the cookies burn.
  • To get a clean cut on your dough, use a sharp knife.
  • To speed up the cooking time for the gingerbread cookies, bake them in batches. Bake them one layer at a time to make sure they don’t burn.
  • To prevent your gingerbread cookie recipe from sticking to your pan, use parchment paper or aluminium foil.
  • When you roll out the dough on a surface that doesn’t have any flour on it, use a bit of flour to prevent it from sticking to your rolling pin and rolling out evenly.
